[Life was good.
It'd been a month and ten days (Logan had counted) since he'd been brought back to the X-Mansion. A month and ten days since he'd left the Black Tide. And the best part? Aside from leaving that hell hole, that is? Talia was with him. Someone who knew and understood just what he'd gone through on that boat. Charles hadn't doubted him; he would've known right away if he was lying. That didn't make it any easier to believe. And that was just fine with him.
If he didn't have to think about that stupid boat again, it'd be too soon.
Settling into life at the mansion was easy enough. Getting an ID and papers for Talia was easy enough. And even better, she fit like a glove at the school. It was more than Logan could ask for.
It wasn't perfect. Nothing ever was. But it was good. And that was enough.]

[Heralds spent the entirety of their lives honing their Gifts and serving their monarch, and Talia had been no different before being pulled from Valdemar. She might have even taught at the Collegium sometime in the future, if things had gone differently then they had.
And boy had they gone differently. She'd never teach the younglings of her own world, as she'd never return to it; but she'd made a home not just in a place, but with another person... Logan.
When they'd been given a chance to start anew somewhere else, she'd said she'd go anywhere with him and anywhere brought her to his world. There had been adjustments, to be certain, but the children had taken to her immediately and she'd begun working with they with mind abilities straight off.
The Professor, Charles Xavier, was a brilliant man... he hadn't questioned their story any longer than it had taken him to briefly pass his mind over theirs. There was power there, to be certain, and Talia had no small amount of respect for the man that ran the school for 'gifted youth.'
It was as normal a morning as they'd been greeted to since arriving, but she still wasn't used to it. Sometimes there were nightmares and they were his... sometimes there were nightmares and they were hers. But in each others' company she found a peace she'd not known for a long, long while.]
Are you meeting me for lunch today, or are you skipping out on your classes altogether... again? In which case, you can come and help with mine.
[She looks at his reflection in the mirror as she pins up her hair, a faint smile curling her lips.]
